You can
choose which newsgroups you want to have synchronized with the Palm Pilot by
checking a box in the newsgroup properties, or by using the convenient selection
list shown below:
In addition to synchronizing newsgroups with the Palm Pilot, you can also
synchronize Autoscan Interest Groups, Filing Folders and your e-mail In-box.
You can set parameters for each group specifying how many messages
should be downloaded into the Palm Pilot, when old messages should be expired,
and limiting the maximum length of messages.

Once you have selected which newsgroups you want synchronized, you can then
click the "Handheld" option on the main menu and tell News Rover to download
recent messages for the newsgroups to be synchronized (or you can get the
messages by running Autoscan for interest groups or by using the normal methods
for getting messages for subscribed newsgroups). Once the messages have been
downloaded into News Rover, you can select the option to generate HotSync files.
You then perform a normal HotSync operation to transfer the messages into
the Palm Pilot. News Rover compresses the text of messages, reducing the amount
of memory space required on the Palm Pilot.

The top-level News Rover screen on the Palm Pilot shows the message groups
that you have selected for synchronization:

Touching the name of a newsgroup shows the list of messages available in the
group. You can click the +/- sign beside the subjects to expand or collapse
message thread listings.

You can then click a message entry to display the text of the message:

Buttons are displayed to return to the message list, display the previous
message text, the next message text or advance to the next message thread.
You can click the "Menu" button to bring up a menu and send a reply:

Replies can be posted to newsgroups and/or sent via e-mail to the person who
posted the message. Outgoing messages are transferred back into News Rover
when the next HotSync operation is performed. You can then tell News Rover to
post them the next time it is run.
